In Qingzhen, Guizhou, pure white “clouds” float on the banks of the meandering Laoma River, rising through lush green trees. This is the Cloud Art Museum in Qingzhen Wetlands Park. Entering a museum that fits perfectly into the surroundings, visitors may find varied sights along the way. The curved translucent glass structure supports the smooth, cloud-shaped roof.
Visitors will be struck by a visual feast of the mountains, water and views through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The entire building is transparent and light, making the colors and luster soothing and soft. Along with a restrained base, this museum is full of passion and elegance.
The building’s facade consists of aluminum and glass panels, which form a very contrasting material. The contrast between the materials adds a bit of softness and smoothness to the building. Through the reflections of the glass, water and aluminum panels, the shadows of the trees through the glass, the outline of the buildings, and the sky in the water, all form vivid images of light and shadow.
